Main Role: Management of core supplier base


JOB TITLE:                               SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT MANAGER


REPORTING TO:                     SALES DIRECTOR


PURPOSE OF JOB ROLE:       To establish and maintain long term; strong, positive and advantageous business purchasing relationships, SLA’s and contracts with GeigerBTC’s core supplier base.




  1. Oversee and manage GeigerBTC promotional product and textile supplier base
  2. Maintain database of company promotional spend by category and supplier
  3. Carry out quarterly reviews of direction of spend and value per supplier
  4. Explore and develop progressive business relationships with a clearly identified and agreed Core Supplier base
  5. Establish Service Level Agreements, favourable Buying Terms and exclusive Rebate Programmes with each of the Core Suppliers
  6. Carry out regular review meetings with Core Suppliers in order to proactively develop the GeigerBTC buying relationship advantage
  7. Maintain oversight and review of both Core Supplier base and wider supplier market’s position on:   Exchange Rates, Distribution costs, CSR Compliance and Ethical Sourcing issues
  8. Capture and co-ordinate new products / core products / new ideas with Marketing Department to promote via website and campaigns to our customers
  9. Manage, develop and direct the GeigerBTC internal team’s use of both the Core and general promotional supplier base
  10. Manage, review and resolve any major disputes with suppliers as necessary
  11. Prepare and report back monthly to senior management on the Core Supplier Programme and carry out any actions resulting from the meetings
  12. Understand and adhere to GeigerBTC’s company business policies and senior managements’ ethical business ethos.


Performance will be measured by:

  1. Achievement against agreed Gross Profit and Rebate targets
  2. Supplier performances against their agreed SLA’s
  3. Senior Management review of performance against the above role responsibilities



Main duties

  1. To liaise with and monitor Sales Administration team on their core buying decisions
  2. Provide direction and guidance to GeigerBTC team on the most advantageous supplier options
  3. Monitor Core Suppliers in their overall levels of service support and adherence to the agreed SLA’s
  4. Maintain up to date knowledge of market, the products and pricing available and communicate this, as appropriate, internally within the company







08:30 – 17:00 (Monday-Friday) Initially office based but a pre-agreed home day working arrangement would be discussed.  Exhibitions and events will require additional time outside normal working hours.



Skills/Abilities required:

  • At least 5 years senior buying experience within the promotional gift and textile market
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with effective use of MS Office suite (particularly: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail
  • Proven business and profit generation acumen
  • Able to handle challenges and resolve conflicts in a positive and professional manner
  • Great organisational skills
  • Able to work under pressure to meet targets and deadlines
  • Proven success as a leader and influencer within an organisation
  • Strong team player
