BrandInc bucks industry trend with 15% increase in annual sales

While a recent survey revealed that the UK promotional merchandise market has fallen by between 20-30 per cent, design-led branding and manufacturing consultancy BrandInc has reported a 15 per cent increase in sales over the past 12 months.

BrandInc believes it is managing to buck the industry trend because it is continuing to invest heavily in new systems to meet clients' increasingly tight lead times, as well as meeting clients' demands for ethical and socially responsible manufacturing. The consultancy is also putting a major emphasis on staff training through the BPMA Academy.

As a result, says BrandInc, it has recently secured further business from major clients such as Diageo - the world’s leading premium drinks business - and TUI UK, the world’s largest tourism and services group.

A recent survey by Sourcing City showed that the UK promotional merchandise market fell by some 20-30 per cent between January-June 2009.

BrandInc’s year-on-year sales increase of 15 per cent puts the consultancy some 35-45 per cent ahead of the market.

Adrian Ferrand, General Manager of BrandInc and a board director of the BPMA, says: “While other companies are cutting back, we’re looking ahead and continuing to invest for the future.
"We’re investing heavily in our internal systems to increase efficiency, improve ethical and environmental performance, and meet increasingly tight lead times. We’re also putting a major emphasis on staff training through the BPMA Academy.”

He adds: “We’ve been able to attract a number of major new clients because we’re perhaps now seen as more reliable than some companies, both financially and in terms of service quality. This has helped us to leap forward despite the market downturn."

BrandInc recently took the bold step of establishing a wholly-owned company in Hong Kong in a move designed to help UK brands reduce the cost of their promotional merchandise.

According to BrandInc, the new operation - located in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong -will be able to deliver large volumes of promotional merchandise at a much lower unit cost because of greater economies of scale and the ability to set prices in US dollars.

ENDS.
